Paragliding and air sports in Ephesus
One of the most important tourist attractions in Turkey is the archeological site of Ephesus. The city was once a hub for the Mediterranean, a mixing pot of culture and diversity and a true example of a classical metropolis. With so many architectural structures now uncovered, Ephesus is a must-see destination for culture lovers and archeology enthusiasts alike.
Without question, the most famous structure in Ephesus is the Temple of Artemis. Also called the Temple of Diana, this is a piece of Greek architecture that was once known as one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World. The temple was once the largest on the planet, showcasing just how important the city of Ephesus was. Unfortunately, the temple itself was largely destroyed around the fifth century, but it is still possible to tour the ruins.
Ephesus was declared a Roman settlement in 133 BC, although it did not reach its peak until some 200 years later. At one point, when the city was the capital of Roman Asia Minor, Ephesus housed more than 250,000 permanent residents. Religious scholars even believe that St.Paul lived in Ephesus, fostering Christianity among many other religions. With the decline of the harbor of Ephesus, and the sacking of the city by Germanic Goths in the third century, Ephesus began its decline.
For roughly 1,500 years, Ephesus was all but forgotten. The remnants of this incredible classical city were hidden from the world until the 1860s, when an international team of archeologists began unearthing the ruins. Today, less than 20 percent of Ephesus has been excavated, but it is still one of the largest accessible archeological sites in the world, and over a million visitors come each year to explore it all in person.

“This was an unforgettable experience. You get a really nice overview of the city and all the pilots are so kind. I did it with 3 friends and a nice little detail is you get walkie talkies to talk to each other while paragliding which we found very cool. It’s more than worth the price!!” – Jolan L.
“I had a wonderful experience with Marcos and his staff. Marcos arranged for round trip transportation from Lara Beach to the take off area. Weather could not have been better. Davut, the pilot, was extremely confident and experienced. I felt very safe with him flying. The moment of take off is simply breathtaking. If you are going to try paragliding once, do it in Ephesus, can’t beat the scenery.” – Magda C
